Previous Methodology and Statistics Conferences


The conference Methodology and Statistics is organized by CMI - Center of Methodology and Informatics, Institute of Social Sciences at Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, and Statistical Society of Slovenia in cooperation with: Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia and Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of Slovenia.

AIMS AND SCOPE

The annual conferences of methodologists and statisticians were establish in 1982.
First conferences were organized in Bled and then several years in Preddvor.
Since 2001, the international conference is being held at the Faculty of Social Sciences in Ljubljana.
All conferences were organized by methodologists and statisticians of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, under the sponsorship of the Statistical Society of Slovenia.
A three days program consists of sections devoted to several topics. As usually the conference proceedings are planned to be published in the series Metodološki zvezki, where the proceedings of previous meetings appeared. All published papers are regularly abstracted in the ISI's STMA.

Papers from the following areas of statistics and methodology would be appreciated:

Those persons wishing to participate at the conference or to present a paper are requested to complete the Registration Form (http://vlado.fmf.uni-lj.si/trubar/preddvor/register.htm; if the data are longer than the visible entry field continue typing). The abstract of approximately two pages should be sent to the conference address given below not later than July 15, 2003. The abstract must include the title, the name(s) and institutional affiliation(s) of the author(s). If possible, please classify your presentation under one of the topics given above.
Decision on acceptance will be made by August 1, 2003. In order to stimulate the presentation of the most recent results, papers need not be sent before the conference. But we ask you to bring your paper to the conference.

LANGUAGE

The official language of the conference is English.

REGISTRATION FEE

Registration fee is 10.000 SIT (1 Euro is approx. 225 SIT). The members of the Statistical Society of Slovenia have 10% of the discount (e.g., 9.000 SIT). For the participants presenting a paper there is no registration fee. At their arrival the participants will get a booklet of abstracts and the detailed Conference program.

SOCIAL PROGRAM

  • Excursion: to Maribor and Zlati Grič.
    Sunday, September 14, departure from CityHotel Turist at 9.00 a.m. and from the city bus station Mercator (North direction) at 9.10 (near the Faculty of Social Sciences or Podiplomski dom or International Center for Promotion of Enterprises); price 10000 SIT (approx. Eur 42) / person - the price includes transportation, guided tour to Maribor, tickets, wine testing with some snacks, and dinner in the restaurant Zlati Grič near Slovenske Konjice. The arrival to Ljubljana is planned at 10.00 p.m.
  • Welcome reception (Monday, September 15, at 19:30) offered by the Mayor of the city of Ljubljana Mrs. Danica Simšič in the City Hall, Mestni trg 1. There will be also a concert of the women choir Katice.

ACCOMMODATION

Hotel accommodation must be arranged by participants themselves. The organizer has made a reservation for several rooms in the Hotel Turist in the center of Ljubljana (when reserving mention that you are a participant of the statistical conference).

TRANSPORTATION

Ljubljana is accessible by air (Brnik, Ljubljana Airport), train (Ljubljana railway station), bus, car.

The travel takes 30 minutes and the last station is at the main bus and railway station in Ljubljana. It is 5 minutes far from Hotel Turist (take Kolodvorska ulica till the end of it, see the map of Ljubljana). The price of one way ticket is 1.000 SIT per person. If you want the drive till the hotel it costs 1.500 SIT.

BUS CONNECTION (CITY GREEN BUS):
LJUBLJANA-CENTER - FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES

The most convenient stop in the center is at Bavarski dvor (from the bus - railway station and Hotel Turist). It is on Slovenska cesta. The buses going to the North (to the Faculty of Social Sciences) are the numbers 6 and 8. From Bavarski dvor the fourth stop is the one for the Faculty of Social Sciences (the stop is called Merkator). The city buses 6 and 8 are going very frequently 24 hours per day.
For the city bus you need the tokens (jettons) which you can buy at the shops selling the newspapers. One token costs 180 SIT.
