Andrej Mrvar, University of Ljubljana, andrej.mrvar@uni-lj.si
Vladimir Batagelj, University of Ljubljana, vladimir.batagelj@uni-lj.si

In this workshop, a new course book on exploratory social network analysis will be presented. It combines an introduction in the various applications of network analysis in the social sciences, a presentation of basic concepts and techniques in social network analysis, as well as a step-by-step manual for the software tools implemented in program Pajek to apply these techniques. With this book, students should be able to perform their own social network analyses.
The workshop is intended for researchers and students who are considering to use program Pajek in their projects and for instructors who are teaching introductory courses in social network analysis or who are considering to start such a course.
Registered 'Pajek' workshop participants will be, on their request, provided with access to the book and related data sets as soon as possible, so they can prepare for the workshop. In the workshop, there will be time to discuss the course book from a didactic point of view. Participants who bring their own computers may get help on using program Pajek with the book or in their own applications of social network analysis. Program Pajek is freely available at:
